ChaosCouple (“we,” “us,” “our”), a product of inGoodCode, is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

1. What We Collect

Information You Provide

• Wedding plan input: Location, guest count, budget, wedding date, style preferences, and free-text description
• Plan edits: Task changes, notes, saved venues, dates you set
• Account credentials: Wedding handle and password (for claimed plans)
• Payment information: Processed entirely by Lemon Squeezy — we never see or store your credit card details. If you make a Pro purchase, we store only a one-way cryptographic hash of your email address for purchase verification; we do not store your email in plain text.

Information Collected Automatically

• Technical data: Browser type, device type, and general geographic region (via standard server logs)
• Cookies: We use essential cookies only to maintain your session and plan access. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. See Section 9 for details.

2. What We Do NOT Collect

• We do not require your name or email address to generate or use a wedding plan
• We do not require account registration to use the free version
• We do not track you across other websites
• We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with advertisers
• We do not store payment card information

3. How We Use Your Data

We use the data we collect solely to:

• Generate and store your personalized wedding plan
• Process your plan through the Google Gemini API for AI plan generation
• Query the Google Places API when you search for venues and vendors (Pro feature)
• Process payments through Lemon Squeezy
• Verify bot protection through Cloudflare Turnstile during plan generation
• Respond to support requests

We use the following third-party services to operate ChaosCouple:

5. Data Storage and Retention

• Wedding plan data is stored on servers within the Supabase infrastructure.
• Free, unclaimed plans may be deleted after 12 months of inactivity.
• Claimed and Pro plans are retained for at least 12 months after your specified wedding date.
• You may request deletion of your plan data at any time by contacting us.

6. Data Sharing

We do not sell your data. We share data only with the third-party services listed above, solely for the purpose of providing the Service. We may disclose data if required by law or to protect our legal rights.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Correct inaccurate data
• Delete your data (“right to be forgotten”)
• Export your data in a portable format
• Object to certain processing of your data

For EU/EEA Residents (GDPR)

Our legal basis for processing your data is:

• Contract performance: Generating and storing your wedding plan
• Legitimate interest: Improving the Service through anonymized server logs
• Consent: When you voluntarily provide wedding plan input

You have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

8. Children's Privacy

ChaosCouple is not intended for use by children under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

9. Cookies

We use only essential cookies required for the Service to function:

• Session cookies: To maintain your authentication state
• Wedding handle session: To keep you logged in to your claimed plan

We do not use:

• Advertising cookies
• Third-party tracking cookies
• Social media cookies

As we only use strictly necessary cookies, we are not required to obtain cookie consent under the GDPR and ePrivacy Directive.

10. Affiliate Disclosure

ChaosCouple includes affiliate links to products on Amazon and other platforms. As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases. Clicking these links does not share any personal data from ChaosCouple with Amazon beyond standard affiliate link tracking (which Amazon handles independently).

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
